The caregiving journey can be both rewarding and the most challenging time in your life. You don't have to take the journey alone.
No two caregiving journeys are the same and yet the similarities can be striking.
Your caregiving journey might involve caring for a family member or friend.
Your work might find you in the role of a direct care worker in a home health agency setting.
You might work as a direct support professional with clients who have developmental disabilities, dementia, or any number of chronic health conditions.
Regardless of the specifics, all caregivers share similar concerns, worries and struggles. Sadly, many make the journey without support at the detriment of their own physical and mental health.
My mission is to support you, as a caregiver, in your journey, no matter what that looks like.
So many caregivers need someone to sit with them during good times and bad in a safe space where they feel comfortable voicing concerns and worries without fear of judgement.
Few ever find that support and subsequently traverse the mentally, physically and spiritually challenging role as a caregiver alone.
I'm here to change that and to remind you that your overall health and mental well being matter.
There are solutions that live within you. You just need help seeing them.
I love being a resource and sharing things that help me on my own caregiving journey. It's with that purpose in mind that I write the 5 Things Newsletter! At the end of every month, I share 5 things that have positively impacted my life as an active caregiver. It might be a podcast episode, a book recommendation, a productivity hack, you name it! (I shared a cleaning hack recently, so you can see nothing is off limits!) My goal is to share what's working for me in the hope it might work for you too! And maybe along the way add a little levity, entertainment, enjoyment and fresh perspective to your inbox! Sign up below to join me! I hope to see you there!
"I was lucky enough to be directed to Barbara going on a year ago. At the time I was very overwhelmed with the situation I had found myself in. I had been taking care of my parents needs, their home inside and out, groceries, Dr. appointments, ordering medication etc. Handling this with a husband, 3 grown children and 11 grandchildren was about all I could fit into each day! My parents are in their 90’s and my dad is insisting they stay in their home. That’s when the other issues began with falling, hospital stays and emotions running high. I was not knowing which way to turn, but of course I had always turned to my Heavenly Father for guidance. My prayers were answered when I was introduced to Barbara. The first time we spoke, I knew she was genuine. Unknowingly, she was what I needed. She listened, really listened, was compassionate, calming and yet very informative. She quickly provided me with resources to contact for whatever road way I chose take. Without telling me, she gently guided me. We have stayed in touch through this journey I find myself on. I’m ever grateful to her continued encouragement, she has definitely been my answer to prayer."
